Hi all,
I've got one of those "zillion in one" flash card readers in my machine... mounted in a 3-1/2 drive bay and connected to the motherboard USB port. Works fine.
Today, I went to remove an SD card I had installed and instead of doing "right-click / eject" in Explorer, I went to the taskbar and clicked "Safely remove USB mass storage drives (H: I: J: K: )".
Of course, this "ejected" the whole memory card reader...
The solution is simple - just log off and back on, or reboot (or pull the USB connector off, then plug it back in).
So, my question is... is there some SOFTWARE way I can "reload" or "reinitialize" the "removed" card reader?
I did a quick Google search and found a few references to a utility named "devcon", but that didn't work.
Also went into "control panel / system / hardware / device manager" and tried "Scan for hardware changes". Didn't work.
Lastly I tried "diskmgmt.msc" and did a rescan for disks.... nope didn't work either.
Anyone know a cute little utility that will do this for me?
Thanks!
