[Guide] Blade Master Empty
PostSubject: [Guide] Blade Master   [Guide] Blade Master EmptyFri Jul 27, 2012 11:10 pm

This was interesting as I found a few builds. I didn't realize it was just adding stats so I did research and I found quite a few on DFOSource

SillyCow - Blade Master level 50 Build
AradSociety - Skill Planner This is what I personally use this build, I'm going to replace the Zanbato with Katana or Bludgeon. This build prefers Light Sabre and Blugeon

Blade Master Section

[Cynical's Blade Master Guide]
Table of Contents

I. Introduction
II. Pros and Cons
III. Skill Builds
IV. Skill Descriptions I – Active
V. Skill Descriptions II – Cancels
VI. Skill Descriptions III – Passives
VII. Skill Descriptions III – Masteries
VIII. Weapons
IX. Conclusion

I. The Introduction
Hey guys, I’m Cynical.
I’m not that experienced when it comes to Blade Masters, I just happened to learn a few things along the way.

II. Pros & Cons

Pros
1) Specialization in multiple weapons (Blunt, Sabers, Katanas, etc)
2) Potentially the fastest slayer subclass
3) With the speed, combos are easier to do.

Cons
1) Weapons expensive/rare
2) Annoying levelling up in the lower levels
3) Expensive class

III. Skill Build
When browsing the AradSociety website, if you look at the right side menu you'll see what level skills you have. The left is the next level skill you obtain if you add into it.

1) Cynical – Nightgale’s level 40 Blade Master
AradSociety - Skill Planner - There’s many builds you could take. It’s all preference in the end, and this prefers to use both Great Sword(Zanbato) and Light Sabre.

SillyCow - Blade Master level 50 Build
AradSociety - Skill Planner I personally use this build, I'm going to replace the Zanbato with Katana or Bludgeon. This build prefers Light Sabre and Blugeon

2) I'm hoping other builds could be posted here for versatility.

IV. Skill Descriptions (Active)

Active – The skills you actually hit things with.

Upward Slash
– Using your weapon, launches the enemy up into the air. Great for starting most if not all combos for a Blade Master.

Guard
– Basic defence skill. Guards from enemy attacks, but still damages you quite a bit depending on skill level. This skill without the cancel would be hard to use, because you would have to be stopped without attacking and defend from an attack.

Thrust
– Using your blade, thrusts sword one more time.

Triple Slash
– Slashes 3-5 times (Depending on Mastery Choice) in an enemy in a sliding motion. It’s useful to get away from enemy attacks if you won’t be able to run away, and it’s a useful skill as a get-in-there attack.

Ashe Fork
– While in the Air, thrusts the sword into the ground causing a shock that damages enemies in the area. It can be used to start combos if Upper Slash is used after it, or can start a combo on its own.

Back Step Cutter
– While using back step, this skill allows you to slash while jumping back.

Secret Slayer Technique
– Depending on the weapon, this skill does various things. A mandatory skill.

Auto Guard
– If you have Guard at level 5, you can use this skill to have a chance of auto guarding when being attacked.

Overdrive
– Increases Strength and Physical Critical rate for a set duration of time, but also uses your weapons durability more.

Draw Sword
– Swings your sword for an AoE effect, has a large delay but powerful.

Charge Crash
– A very useful get-in-there skill. Dives into enemy attack and swings upwards lounging the enemy up for a combo starter

Raging Dragon Slash
– Similar to Triple Slash, quickly rushes through enemies. Unlike triple slash, this skill can be used while moving at the same time. You can control where your slash direction goes instead of a straight line.

Illusion Sword Dance
– Slashes enemies with your sword 10-12 times, powerful skill with a long delay.

V. Skill Descriptions II – Cancels

Cancels

A Cancel is what allows you to use a specific skill while attacking without waiting for your current attack animation to finish. This doesn’t get rid of the cool down time in the skill, but it is still very useful for combos. It could possible save you in many situations as well.

Cancel Guard
– Interrupts current skill being used and guards in front of you. This skills use depends on the person, in most cases it’s ignored.
Cancel Upward Slash – Lounges enemy into the air, without the cancel for Upward Slash this skill would most likely be a lot less useful in terms of use.

Cancel Charge Crash
– Charges into the enemy while using already using a skill. This could be really useful to not get attacked mid combo and hit them into the sky for a combo.

VI. Skill Descriptions III – Passives

Passives
– These are the skills that you can’t attack with, they aren’t cancels, and they automatically work without you having to cast them.

Tempered Attack
– Decreases durability loss on your weapon. This stacks on with Overdrive, meaning you can increase your strength while not having your weapon break on you.

Weapon Wielder’s Zenith
– Adds one to all masteries in exception of Beam Swords.

Beam Sword License
– Only a Blade Master obtains this when they advance. This allows them to use Beam Swords.

Rapid Weapon Switch
– Reduces the cool down time when switching weapons in a dungeon or PVP.

Flip Side Counter
– Gives you a chance of counterattacking when hit from behind (Doesn’t include magic)

Aerial Chain Slash
– This skill allows you to attack with the normal attack more than once in the air.

VII. Skill Descriptions II – Masteries

Blade masters aren’t limited to any weapon.

1) Lightsabre

Once learned up to level 3, Thrust skill adds laser effect near the tip of the blade.
Once learned up to level 5, this skill allows you to use Triple Slash up to 5 times, last hit launching the enemies into the air.
Once learned up to level 7, Draw Sword gains additional hit along with shock effect. Rapid Dragon Slash also obtains shock effect.

2) Katana

At level 3, gains a third slash in the air that can't really be done with regular jump.
Once learned up to level 5, this skill allows you to use Triple Slash up to 5 times, last hit launching the enemies into the air.
At level 7, Draw Sword gins an additional attack that can make enemies bleed.

3) Short Sword

At level 3, some kind of additional attack is added to Upper Slash (Kind of like an extra poke)
At level 5, successful Guard Shocks enemies.
At level 7, additional attack is added to Rapid Dragon Slash

4) Zanbato

At level 3, Ashen Fork gains super armor, and is able to hit through multiple opponents before finishing off with a shockwave.
If the Ashen Fork hit the enemy too high in the air, the shockwave won’t be applied.
At level 5, successful Guard shocks enemies.
At level 7, Charge Crash gains an extra attack, when the Blade Master slams his weapon into the ground and causes a shockwave. (The shock does not take effect if Charge Crash is interrupted before the last hit. )

5) Bludgeon

At level 3, Back Step Cutter gains the ability to re-launch a grounded enemy and creates a shockwave
At level 5, hitting an enemy with a jump attack now creates a shockwave when said enemy touches the ground.
At level 7, Charge Crash gains an extra attack, when the Blade Master slams his weapon into the ground and causes a shockwave. (The shock does not take effect if Charge Crash is interrupted before the last hit. )

VIII. Skill Descriptions III – Weapons

Blade Master’s have an option to use all the swords (and stick) provided throughout the game.
There are Five types of weapons they can use.

1) Lightsabre
2) Katana
3) Short Sword
4) Zanbato / Great Sword
5) Bludgeon (Mainly looks like a stick)

Each weapon has its own use, and depending on the weapon the game play for each one differs.

1) Lightsabre

This small chart here shows its position in comparison to the rest of the swords.

Physical Attack: 1/5
Magical Attack: 3/5
Speed: 5/5
Range: 4/5

The only type of slayer that gets this weapon is the Lightsabre, so it’s a not-so-bad choice. Just often overused. People often choose this because it’s flashy and looks cool, but usually hate on the low damage.

2) Katana

Physical Attack: 2/5
Magical Attack: 4/5
Speed: 4/5
Range: 2/5

A Katana is more used for magic. The Katana is more oriented for a Soul Bender, with potential use for a Berserker and Asura

3) Short Sword

Physical Attack: 3/5
Magical Attack: 5/5
Speed: 3/5
Range: 1/5

This weapon is more for casting magic, rather than physical attacking. A Blade Master has almost no magical attacks in exception of other subclass skills. This weapon seems more useful for an Asura.

4) Zanbato / Great Sword
Physical Attack: 5/5
Magical Attack: 1/5
Speed: 1/5
Range: 5/5

A Zanbato is definitely a power house weapon. It’s slow but hurts like hell when you get hit by it. This weapon could be used by both Berserker and Weapon Master, but seems a little more Berserker oriented. Nothing wrong with a Weapon Master using a Zanbato, but the speed could be fatal. Up sides to using this weapon are some super armoured skills such as Ashen Fork, the last attack in Secret Slayer, and some more.

5) Bludgeon

Physical Attack: 4/5
Magical Attack: 2/5
Speed: 2/5
Range: 3/5

This weapon is great for juggling enemies. It’s often shut down by many slayers, but some can use it much better than most players use a Lightsabre. (If you don’t get it, I’m saying this weapon has tons of potential)

IX. Conclusion

Alright! That wraps up this guide.
